Management competence assessment
A structured assessment of managers’ competences that combines Clark L. Wilson’s Survey of Management Practices (1973) with 360-degree feedback — for organisations that want an evidence-based picture of their management team before a change, a promotion or a development programme.
What it measures
The Wilson model describes management as a cycle of skills: clarifying goals, planning and problem solving, facilitating the work of others, providing feedback, exercising control, recognising performance and building a motivating climate. The 360-degree component collects structured ratings from the manager, their supervisor, peers and direct reports, so that self-perception can be compared with how others experience the manager’s work.
How it works
- questionnaires completed online by the manager and six to twelve raters — about thirty minutes each;
- an individual competence profile showing the gaps between self-assessment and others’ ratings;
- a confidential feedback session with an IMACON consultant;
- an individual development plan and, for teams, an aggregated report for the organisation.
Who it is for
Managers and management teams of non-governmental organisations, companies and public institutions; boards preparing succession or restructuring; capacity-building programmes that need a baseline and end-line measure of management competences.
